Landscape Photography
Landscapes have been a constant since my university years, shot wherever travel leads. Since 2018, the work has grown into an extensive archive spanning China, the United States, and countries across Europe.

Portrait Photography
Portrait photography began during my master’s programme in the UK and has since grown into commissioned work, from photographing friends and family to strangers who book sessions, with a practice now based in Stockholm, Sweden.

Documentary Photography
Rooted in a love for life and a quiet insistence on documenting it, this practice began during my undergraduate studies in China and has followed a simple instinct ever since: to catch the beautiful, fleeting moment as it happens. From exhibitions to large-scale outdoor gatherings, the lens has since turned toward Stockholm’s small and mid-sized events and exhibitions.

Still-life Photography
A fascination with museum objects and artefacts, first kindled during undergraduate studies. It grew into a habit of quietly documenting what museums preserve, and, in time, extended to art exhibitions and still-life scenes found in everyday life. The same care for composing an object carries over easily into commercial product photography.

Street Photography
Born from the same love and passion for life and quiet persistence in documenting it. This practice took shape during my stay in the UK, where travels across Europe became a chance to capture each place’s customs and character through my lens.

Letian Lois Ding

I am a curator and photographer based in Stockholm, working between Sweden and China.

My practice moves between two ways of looking closely:
Curating — across exhibitions, events and platforms, where I work with objects, artists and audiences to shape how a story unfolds;
Photography
— where I work one frame at a time, often with people encountering a place for the first time.
These two aspects come from the same instinct: paying attention to what a place or an object means to the person standing in front of it, and finding a way to make that meaning visible to someone else.

I hold master’s degrees in Art Curating and Museum and Artefact Studies, along with hands-on experience across museums, galleries and cultural institutions in China, the UK, and Sweden. Photography grew alongside this — first as part of documenting exhibitions and events, then as its own practice, working directly with locals and international visitors here in Stockholm.

I move comfortably between Mandarin, English, and (increasingly) Swedish, and between institutional and independent ways of working, which, I think, is where most of the interesting questions in my work live.
